The Caribbean Region |
|
Beliz
is just a small part of the Caribbean Islands. I have never heard about
this small country till my husband has an idea to see the map where
we can go for our next vacation. So we decided to investigate the Caribbean
region and know something interesting about Beliz. Traveling is
our hobby – each season we leave our place and go somewhere to
get acquainted with attractions and
historical places that are not far from America. This time we were
open up to new opportunities and wonders. On my mind immediately occur
pirate stories, sea and land adventures, resorts, and the beautiful
Caribbean nature - all these things attract tourists from around the
world. The Caribbean Archipelago (or by the greatest explorer Christopher
Columbus, the West Indies), is not a country or island, rather it is
a group of small and big islands in the Caribbean Sea. The West Indies
are conveniently situated between the two continents – South
and North Americas. The Caribbean region was of interest to European
and American people since the Age of Exploration. Many Caribbean islands
with their ingenious populations were colonized by Europeans in the
fifteenth, sixteenth, and seventeenth centuries. Spanish, Portuguese,
English, Dutch, and French conquerors were fighting to take over the
domination of the Caribbean territory. They wanted to get rich fast
and then come back to Europe with treasures. Nowadays it is a very
developed region with its advanced technology and business. Tourism
is prospering as well. Lots of tourists are heading to the Caribbean
region to have a vacation, to learn history of these places and to
join the exotic nature. Traveling to
warm country is perfect when you have cold days in your place. |
